Shutouts For Kids is a non-profit charity that I started in 2009 as a fun way to benefit organizations that mean something to me. As a hockey goalie, I have collected donations based on the number of shutouts I earn during the season…but one-time pledges were accepted (and appreciated) as well. At the end of the year, I split the total amount of collected funds and donated half to the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation (ESYHF), and the other half to the Make A Wish Foundation (MAW). ESYHF is a Philadelphia-area organization that helps foster life skills for inner-city youth. Hockey is the main thrust of the foundation but after-school and mentoring activities are all part of their program. MAW is an organization that grants wishes to children with life-threatening diseases. In six seasons, I raised more than $60,000 and I want to expand the Shutouts for Kids network to include YOU!
